PORT CHARLOTTE -- A man now faces charges involving three different instances of exposing himself at businesses in Charlotte County.
A woman complained to deputies that a man had been staring at her inside a Walmart in Port Charlotte April 18th. They looked at surveillance video and identified him as Xavier "Pee Wee" Hearns. The 35-year-old man had been arrested on similar charges at a nearby Target store. A week later, April 25th, deputies responded to a Burlington store where a woman said a man was behaving in a similar manner. Hearns was again identified and charged, and this time he's being held without bond.
Port Charlotte is about 50 miles from Sarasota, where actor Paul Reubens, known for playing the character Pee-Wee Herman, was arrested in 1991 for exposing himself at an adult movie theater. He pleaded no contest in exchange for community service and avoided a criminal conviction. Reubens died in 2023.
